It’s a perfect desk-to-dinner companion, any time of year.” – Tory Burch

Designer Shoes

When I first signed up for Gilt, I think in 2016 sometime, I thought it was so cool. I remember waiting each morning for the deal alerts and getting annoyed the days I had early morning class in grad school, because it meant I’d miss the 9 AM sales. I bought a few items, and was excited for them to come…and then each time, it was kind of like, “ehh”. And plus it was such a hassle to return, I never did.

Then there was Haute Look….and Rue La La…and then the Neiman Marcus “Dashes” or what not…and more and more . And my inbox kept getting more and more annoying each day. And finally, I think when I was waiting for an email about a job interview and kept refreshing and refreshing, only to get more shopping emails, I finally went on a rage induced unsubscribe spree. And I haven’t really shopped at those sites actively since.

I kind of miss it though. Every once in a while I’ll Google some item I’m looking for…and find out that it was available on one of those sites for really cheap, but like three months ago. Wouldn’t it have been cool, to get that deal?

Anyway, because of my pregnancy and rapidly expanding weight, I’ve been on an accelerated mission to find comfortable sandals. I had mentioned earlier how much I love these Stuart Weitzman metallic sandals. I’d probably splurge on them full price, but I’ve been frightened off by friends who delight in recounting to me how their feet, and thus shoe sizes, permanently increased after pregnancy. I decided to hunt for a pair of similar sandals on all of these discount sites…and was thrilled (!) when I spotted the pair above on Neiman Marcus Last Call. For more than half off. Wow. Maybe I should be trawling these sites more often?

My sandals arrived about two weeks later and I tried them on and loved them. Emboldened by my success, I later went back onto Last Call, Gilt, Haute Look, just to have a look. But again, I couldn’t find anything.

Did you used to, and do you still shop regularly on these type of discount sites? If so, I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips for success!

Trend Alert: Art Deco Shoes

Designer Shoes

Trend Alert

The Great Gatsby has been in theaters for a while now, but fashion’s Art Deco revival shows no signs of stopping. Here’s hoping it stays that way – we could all use an extra dose of glam! The black suede and metallic gold leather on these T-straps from Charlotte Olympia evoke the elegance of the bygone era, while the designer’s cute signature style steals its way onto the platforms via sweet, scalloped edging.

Trend Alert

Jimmy Choo Crystal Sandal: Thin, bedazzled straps create a less ornate, yet still geometric look. It’s the Art Deco shoe for the 21st century.

Ivanka Trump Aryella Pump: While this pump may be modest in both price and appearance, it’s somehow completely decadent and on point!

Boutique 9 Orseena Art Deco Platform Evening Sandals: Art Deco was defined in part by industrial imagery like the sleek, steel Chrysler Building. Between the metallic leather accents and metal hardware, this sandal more than fits the shiny bill.

Badgley Mischka Alessandra Pump: Perfect for a lavish party on Long Island! All you need is a flapper dress and a gin martini to complete the picture.

Belle Sigerson Morrison Black Leather Art Deco Platform Wedge Heels: Art Deco need not be confined to pretty pumps and sandals. Subtly incorporating the style’s shapes onto a wedge lets you keep the party going even when you’re relaxing.

Alongside the popular platforms there appeared another trend called creeper flatform. It has the same principle as the platform but is lower in its heels and looks more comfortable. Fashion house such as Giambattista Valli, Chanel, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney and Rag & Bone are the main representatives of the creeper flatform shoes, which mostly have rough but subtle designs at the same time. Perhaps this is the most fascinating and attractive thing about flatforms.
